A strange but interesting concept transpersons , surgeries for change of sex. The operation can be done in two ways MTF (Male To Female) and FTM (Female To Male)
Male To Female :
Orchiectomy : Removal of testes
Vaginoplasty : Six - hour single stage surgery , involves 6 days hospitalization and atleast 2 months test
Female To Male:
Mastectomy : Removal of breasts without a scar
Hysterectomy : Removal of uterus and ovaries
Phalloplasty : Construction of urethra and penis done in stages
COST: Between 2lacs to 3lacs including surgery, sessions with psychiatrists, depending on room charges. This doesn't include cost of hormones. Sex reassignment operation are done in Mumbai and Kolkata in India, though fewer in numbers.
In Bangkok , Singapore and Malaysia doctors perform 20 such surgeries in a month for patients from around the world , where its affordable when compared to US and Europe.
