SHOIAB MALIK in controversy

A hyderabad man has claimed that Pakistani cricket captain Shoaib Malik was married to his daughter and Friday threatened to move the court as the player denied having wedded her.
Claiming that the couple did enter into a 'nikah', M.A. Siddiqui said the family would approach the court to get a formal divorce. Reacting 10 days after Malik's claim that there had been no marriage, Siddiqui, a Dubai-based businessman, told newsmen that the Pakistani cricketer had cheated his daughter Ayesha.

'He is a cheat. He is a big liar. He has not only cheated my daughter but cheated this city and this country,' he said at his house in the posh Banjara Hills neighbourhood here. He demanded that Malik be banned from playing in India.

In March 2005, Siddiqui had hosted a dinner for the Pakistani team at his house here when the team was in Hyderabad to play a warm-up match against India 'A'.

Malik and Ayesha had met in Sharjah in 2000. It was love at first sight and they decided to marry. Ayesha had told media here in 2005 that the marriage took place over phone on May 2, 2003, when she was in Hyderabad and Malik in Sialkot, his hometown in Pakistan. However, the marriage was kept a secret for two years, as the families wanted Malik to settle down.

MALIK DENIES MARRIAGE WITH AYESHA:

Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has again denied that he has married an Indian girl, but one of his friends says he has admitted getting "engaged" to her.
Shoaib clarified that he liked Ayesha, a girl in Hyderabad in southern India, but never married her. "I liked Ayesha and I told my family about it. Elders of both the families discussed the matter but the chapter was closed after they couldn't agree on certain things," Shoaib told

Shoaib stressed at the press meet that he had never cheated the girl. "I can never think of cheating a girl and since it was something which disturbed me. I am here to clarify the matter."
But one of his close associates said the cricketer had told his friends that he had got "engaged" to an Indian girl and had mentioned Ayesha's name.

Shoiab side alleged that Ayesha's family was exploiting Shoaib and his celebrity status. "We are not denying the fact that Shoaib had an affair with a girl named Ayesha on the Internet almost six years ago. "Shoaib had planned to marry her and Mohammad Siddiqui claimed she was his daughter. But the photographs they showed of Ayesha to Shoaib were not those of their real daughter. They had been cheating Shoaib," his side claimed.
