DASAVATHARAM STORY OVERVIEW

The story starts with an incident taking place in 12th century when Hindus were divided into Saivites and Vaishnavites. Rangarajan Nambi (Kamal.1) is a loyal disciple of Ramanuja Azhwar. King Kulothunga (Napolean - what a fantastic performance!), a follower of Lord Siva, compels Nambi to worship Lord Siva instead of Lord Vishnu but Nambi refuses.The king then orders to throw the statue of Lord vishnu along with Nambi into the sea.

After this first avatar, the movie shifts to the present world America. Govind (Kamal.2)scientist invents a dangerous bio weapon in his lab but wants to destroy the it after realizing its dangerous,but the US Govt and scientists don’t allow him to do that. One fine day, Govind runs away from the lab with the bio weapon but Fletcher (Kamal.3), a former CIA officer turned villian, chases him to get the weapon back to destroy other countries.

The weapon by mistake sent to an Indian address by courier where a 95 year old lady (Kamal.4) receives the parcel. Govind immediately rushes to India and traces down the address followed by Fletcher accompanied by his prostitute cum translator (Mallika Sherawat). The old lady refuses to give the weapon to them without understanding the danger it could cause and puts it inside a statue of Lord Vishnu.

The scientist captures the statue and starts running with it pulling Asin close relative of the old lady, along with.A foolish police officer Balram Naidu (Kamal.5) too is in the race always chasing both these characters.

In between a Punjabi singer (Kamal.5), US President George Bush (Kamal.6), a tall Muslim (Kamal.7), a martial arts trainer (Kamal.8) and a Southern district resident Annachi (Kamal.9) comes.

Finally the tsunami comes to the rescue of the Scientist and destroys the weapon along with drowning Fletcher . The statue of Lord Rangaraja which was immersed in the sea in 12th century also appears on the shore after the tsunami.

MEGA AUDIO LAUNCH FOR DASAVATHARAM

It was a meeting of Hollywood, Bollywood and Kollywood. Jackie Chan, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan electrified Chennai for a few hours at the audio launch.
Malayalam super star Mamooty , Ilayathalapathi Vijay, Hema malini, actress Asin , Malika sherawat were also present at the dias.
Of all the felicitations offered for Jackie, the one that had the most details was by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, who launched the audio CD of the film.

ITS IPL Vs BOX OFFICE

The news is that IPL tournament has made the Chennai Box Office (CBO) dull. Collections over the Apr 18 - 20 week end that coincided with the launch of IPL took the beating. The multiplexes were marginaly affected, sathyam cinemas vice president says that the collections marginaly affected by 5 to 10 % in the wee ends and 15 to 20 % in the week days. Other theater owners also claiming that their collections down because of the IPL fever.
There is also a thought in the industry that the newness of IPL is creating craze for it and once it became boring they wear out.



Most of the Big films are planned for summer release like Kamal.s Dasavatharam, Vijay's Kuruvi, where vijay itself being the brand ambassador for Chennai Super Kings(CSK).
Most of the stars are going on a vacation abroad in may to get away from the IPL mania, they were also upset ovet vijay and nayanthara riding on IPL thunder.Vijay however says that IPL wont affect box office and a well made film will definitely do well at the box office.

TAMIL FILM INDUSTRY PEOPLE BEGIN FAST

Representatives of Tamil film industry began fast on Friday condemning the activities of kanada people hitting cinemas screening Tamil films in karnataka. The main reason was to protest against Karnataka's decision against Hogenakkal water project.

Tamil film people began en eight hour fast at chepauk, wearing black badges ,many technicians and almost all actors Rajini , Kamalhasan , Vijay kanth , Sarath kumar , vijayakumar and radha ravi , Vijay , Ajith and actress Nayanthara , Namitha , Trisha and many more also participated.

Speakers said that the film industry was the first victim during such issues.

RajiniKanth said,"This is a serious issue and should be solved immediately and should not let it to grow like cavery issue, both states must talk and solve problem"

Vijaykanth said,"Like CPI putting a stop to govt in nuclear deal issue , TN govt which is a big part in central govt , it should put a stop to them asking for a solution to TamilNadu" and Sarath Kumar also said the same.

Vijay said that this must be the last such fast against any problem and there should not be any more problems for our Tamil Nadu.

Sathyaraj talked with aggression and expressed sadness over Tamilans being attacked and actors not talking about it and talking about other actors on stage.
Many more aggresive talkings and speech came from the stage and ofcourse what all expect is our right share of water from hogenakkal.

DASAVATHARAM AUDIO SONGS TO BE LAUNCHED BY JACKIE CHAN

The much awaited movie of the year 2008 DASAVATHARAM was ready to lauch.Dasavatharam audio is to be released by Jackie chan. Dasavatharam team wants to celebrate the audio release in a big manner.Plans are to invite the mega stars RajiniKanth ,Telugu super star Chiranjeevi and Big B.

Earlier Jackie saw some scenes in Dasavatharam.He appreciated Kamal for his performance in the film. Dasavatharam nearly takes 2 years and 265 days for completion.Post production work alone take 10 months.In hindi Das means ten ,kamal has made 10 avatars in the film including Bush,an old woman etc.

The total budget of the film was 120 crores. The film was crafted by K.S Ravikumar ,produced by Oscar Ravichandran and penned by Padmashri Kamalhassan.

Well,there has been news about it,but it's not confirmed.

Yes,it is my biggest, longest and hardest project.

Himesh Reshammiya-how was the music turned out to be?
He is a North Indian but his music for Dasavatharam has a South Indian feel.Also,his music for the 12th century scenes has come out very well.

Tom Hanks played a HIV+ person in Philadelphia when the issue was in the news.Are you against in doing such a role ?Or is there too much stigma against it?
I,m not against playing such a character.Nor do I doubt if the society will find it unacceptable.I'm just tied up with other things now.

You say you identity yourself with the Malayali community.You even call y0urself a Malayali in that regard.Ant Malayali movie now?
True,I'm also a Malayali.As for a movie in Malayalam,there is an idea of doing a bilingual.Talks may happen soon.
