Chef Jacob, who is well-known for his innovative dishes and for hosting Aaha Enna Rusi on Sun TV, is attempting to get into the Guinness Book of World Records by cooking continuously for 24 hours on the barbeque, starting from 9 am on March 14. The event will take place at the Radisson Resort Temple Bay, Mamallapuram.

Speaking at a press meet, Jacob said it would be one-ofits kind attempted by an individual chef on the barbeque.

“Cooking on the barbeque grill is popular in the US but not in India. I will be cooking using olive oil and not butter or cheese, which are usually used while cooking on the barbeque,” said the chef.

Jacob will be cooking 500 dishes in 24 hours and guests who visit the Radisson Resort will get to taste these dishes free of cost. Also, a part of the barbequed dishes will be sent to orphanages and old age homes.

Jacob said that marinating would be done prior to the start of the attempt. The dishes to be cooked on the grill are standard and popular international barbeque dishes like mutton steaks, chicken sausages, grilled whole chicken, barbequed baby onions and barbequed capsicums. The chef will be cooking on five grills at a time and it will be monitored by Lucia Sinigagleisi, head of adjudications department of Guinness World Records, UK.

Apart from her, there will also be sub-judges to monitor the whole cooking process. Says Jacob, “I have been on a strict diet for the past four months and twice a day I have been hitting the gym. Recently, I did a trial run of 12 hours. I’m hoping the best.”
